I've always been fascinated by this animal seemingly quiet but also extremely ferocious and finally having the time to do some personal work was cool. Recently I really enjoyed working on creatures and surfacing them so I tried to bring everything I learned so far into a small project like this one. Initially I planned to do the whole body but later due to time constraint I decided to focus only on the head. the whole surfacing was done in zbrush using HD geo with a mix of hand sculpting, custom alphas and some created from skin patches and photo references in photoshop, I believe the head was around 180 mil polygons. the texturing was done by hand in Mari and final render/shading done in Arnold. Still there are things I need to improve/fix...but for now I call it done.
